The BMW M1 is a very rare car. So much so that I didn't even know it existed until we were working on a project involving Andy Warhol, who famously painted one:
1.bp.blogspot.com/_N_fR5D_yCxk…Since I've been learning iOS development at work lately and a nice 3d model of an M1 would be potentially useful in the Warhol project, I decided to create this car as a testbed for learning native Objective-C and OpenGL programming.
I was able to get some pretty good results with only about 17,000 triangles and only a few small textures on the lights and wheels. The body is just a flat color with a pretty shader (no normalmaps or anything).
The image I posted was taken from 3dsMax's viewport but I also have this up and running (and looking nearly identical) on the iPhone and iPad.
